Chambercombe Manor - The Perfect Wedding Venue
Chambercombe Manor is a stunning and unique 11th century Manor House situated in picturesque North Devon not far from the sea. Mentioned in the Domesday book and later owned by Lady Jane Greys father, the Duke of Suffolk.
Our civil wedding ceremonies are conducted in the Great Hall which dates back to the 11th century and is the original and oldest part of the house. The lime ash floor is around 450 years old and the natural patina is a result of many hundreds of years of people walking on it. The English oak table which is used for the Registrar to conduct your civil wedding ceremony was made during the 1640s. Other period furniture in the room includes an Elizabethan Court cupboard and a beautifully carved 19th century display cabinet reputed to be from the Black Forest in Germany.
The Great Hall has room for 60 guests, 40 seated and 20 standing. If you would prefer you have the choice to sign the register in the Chapel which was formerly the private Chapel of the Champernon family and originally licensed by Bishop Lacey in 1439.
We have three acres of beautiful gardens with a natural stream running through, a lovely lawn, large pond, silent pool and many other interesting features where you may have your photographs taken.
The cost to have your civil wedding ceremony at Chambercombe Manor in the Great Hall including use of the grounds for your photographs is £750.
