Woodland Access Project

Chambercombe Trust recently proposed to its Green Alliance partners that a foot & bridleway should be created through Chambercombe Woods.

The concept originally put forward by our long standing and valued volunteer Tim Cox, was developed into the current proposal by Tim & Paul Rich (Estates Manager).

This proposal was agreed and partial funding was provided by the North Devon ANOB, the project will commence in mid December 2006 and it is proposed to open the access at Easter 2007.

The footway will extend for some 400m from Chambercombe Lane to the new roundabout at Killacleve (Tescos), meandering through a diverse range of habitats. It is intended that this access will become a major benefit to the community, generating work for local craftsperson's and also a site for the demonstration of coppice associated crafts.

Our thanks for help with this project goes out to our partners, volunteers & also Devon Highways (North Devon) for their kind support and assistance. Also we would thank the following contractors that have and continue to undertake aspects of ground works in a conscientious manner, often working at short notice and around our tight schedule.R .
